I have a MacBook Pro 2010 17' i7 model with 8GB RAM, and until recently I used CS5 and Snow Leopard on my Mac. I decided to upgrade to Mavericks, and did so without a problem. I also wanted to upgrade to CS6, so after I bought it on Amazon, I installed it on my Mac, and updated every app to the latest version.
So far so good, but here's where things went haywire. I uninstalled CS5 using the built-in uninstaller app in the Photoshop CS5 folder. I selected all the CS5 apps, and removed them and rebooted. Unfortunately, some of my CS6 programs don't work. Premiere Pro is one of them. Whenever I launch the program, I get the splash screen, but no loading messages. After sitting there at the splash screen for several minutes beachballing, the app will quit unexpectedly and I'm asked if I'd like to submit a report to Apple.
WHAT I'VE TRIED:
- Deleted the preferences in /User/Library/Preferences
- Restarted in Safe Mode
- Repaired Permissions
- Uninstalled and reinstalled and updated Premiere Pro
None of this worked, but one thing did: I launched Premiere Pro in my Guest account, and it started up without a hitch. It launched and had no problems. I tested this several times just to be sure. This tells me that it isn't the app, it has to be something with my user account and possibly some problem related to having installed CS6 before removing CS5.
According to Console, the error I always get is: Adobe Premiere Pro CS6: invalid drawable. According to the actual crash report, the listed errors are: Crashed Thread 0 Dispatch queue: com.apple.main-thread Exception Type: exc_bad_access (SIGSEGV) Exception Codes: kern_invalid_address at 0x00000000
Hopefully someone has a suggestion to get my Premiere Pro CS6 running again soon; I don't want to be relegated to just using it in the Guest Account!
